The 2024 Session of the Nordic Council will be held in Reykjavik at the Icelandic parliament, the Althing and at Reykjavik City Hall. The main theme for this year’s Session is “Peace and Security in the Arctic”

The Session is the supreme decision-making body within Nordic parliamentary co-operation. It is a unique form of regional co-operation, bringing together both parliamentarians of the Nordic Council and Nordic government ministers.
The main theme for this year’s Session is “Peace and security in the Arctic”. A potential update of the Helsinki Treaty is also on the agenda. The detailed agenda for the plenary will be published two weeks before the Session.

On 22 October – one week before the session – you can follow a televised broadcast revealing the winners of the Nordic Council prizes, both here at norden.org and on Icelandic television on RUV. The winners will receive their prize statuettes during a ceremony at the Session. This ceremony isn’t open to the press.
