Nominations for the Nordic Council Nature and Environment Prize 2014

The 2014 Nature and Environment Prize will go to a Nordic local authority/town/community that has either made an impact on the environment in general or has put extraordinary effort into an particular aspect of work on the environment. The 13 nominations are (in no particular order):

The village of Gjógv (Faroe Islands)

Gladsaxe Council (Denmark)

Hallstahammars Council (Sweden)

City of Jyväskylä (Finland)

Lejre Council (Denmark)

Ii Council (Finland)

Middelfart Council (Denmark)

City of Reykjavík Council (Iceland)

The Saligaatsoq – Avatangiiserik Project (Greenland)

The Skaftholt farm in Skeiða- og Gnúpverjahreppur (Iceland)

Snæfellsnes, a partnership of five local authorities (Iceland)

Solheimar Institution (Iceland)

Växjö Council (Sweden)

The winner will be chosen by an adjudication committee consisting of 13 individuals, two from each of the Nordic countries and one each from Greenland, the Faroe Islands and Åland. 

The announcement will be made on Wednesday 29 October 2014 at the Session of the Nordic Council in Stockholm. Further info and updates will be posted on www.norden.org.
