Nordic Sustainable Development Indicators 2009

This set of sustainable development indicators for the Nordic countries was developed in order to monitor the goals set out in the strategy Sustainable Development – New Bearings for the Nordic Countries. Revised edition with goals and priorities 2009-2012. Sustainable development includes three interdependent dimensions: the economical, the social and the ecological. The strategy has four chapters and sets out goals and prioritised areas for Climate and renewable energy, Sustainable production and consumption, The Nordic welfare state as a tool for sustainable development, Education and research, participation of the population and local sustainability strategies. The purpose of the indicators is to give pointers as to how the Nordic countries are performing in these areas.
